Oxidation is a process that is common to many water treatment technologies. Ozone is exceptionally effective as an oxidizer, which makes it a great choice for treatment of tough source waters. Some of ozone's uses are:

• Disinfection, effective for chlorine resistant cryptosporidium

• Breakdown of dissolved organics

• Oxidation of metals e.g. iron and manganese

• Oxidation of  hydrogen sulfide

• Color and tannin removal

 

Ozone is especially useful when used in conjunction with biological filtration, as the broken down organics provide important nutrients for filter health.
